Writes the Editor’s View and sets the week’s agenda. Final read on every issue before it goes out.
London·New York·Published every Sunday
The week is covered on both sides of the Atlantic, then edited into a single issue before Sunday morning.
UK and European markets, the Bank of England and ECB, defence and industrial policy, and the Sunday edit.
US markets and the Federal Reserve, earnings coverage, and the Friday close that opens each issue.
Every section of the Brief has a named writer, and every issue has one editor with the final read.

The most useful thing an analyst can do is improve the questions a reader is asking — not hand them conclusions to memorise. The Brief is structured around what’s the actual mechanism here? rather than what should we think?
Every paragraph that doesn’t earn its place costs the reader something. The Brief aims to be readable in nine or ten minutes because that is the highest form of respect it can offer an intelligent audience with somewhere else to be.
Every figure and date is checked against independent sources before publication, and an issue that cannot be verified is held rather than shipped. A correction costs a week; an uncorrected error costs the reader’s trust permanently.
Every email is read. Most get a reply.
